Beginning within the Health Equity Council of Kent County, the Task Force was created to address the priority area of Access to Health Care from the Kent County Community Health Needs Assessment. Strategies to address these priories are developed and included in the Community Health Improvement Plan.
While the initiative began in Kent County, many of the partner organizations serve community members throughout West Michigan. The resources found on this website should be available for all people in West Michigan, but do know that some of the data will be specific to Kent County.
The West Michigan Medicaid Task Force was built on the basis that all people deserve access to health care.
Our Mission
Ensure that those who are eligible for Medicaid in Kent County and West Michigan receive and maintain coverage.
Our Vision
Create a supportive network to prevent individuals from losing health care coverage that is critical to their overall well-being.
Partner Workgroup
Community of practice to strengthen the network front-line supporters of medicaid enrollment, like CHWs, navigators, enrollment assisters, and trusted community organizations through collaboration, training, case consultation, and resource coordination.
Outreach & Awareness Workgroup
Identify and utilize clear, accessible promotional materials and outreach strategies that help community members understand Medicaid changes and maintain coverage.
Data & Evaluation Workgroup
Monitor and analyze community impact, and provide data-driven recommendations to inform task force priorities and communications.
